I am working on a bunch of new stuff, both for gallery shows and for my etsy shop. Here's just a quick peek at a couple of new faces. I hope to have a bunch of new fall and Halloween inspired plush unveiled in the shop by September 15th, so stay tuned. Have a great week everyone!

I just LOVE getting plush in the mail. This guy arrived at our house yesterday, from the amazing creative mind of Junker Jane. Daniel is one of her newest franken-creatures, and as soon as I saw him I knew I had to have him. It was the tones of green that did it, or was it the lazy lidded eye, or his hair, or... basically it was love at first sight. :) If you don't know Junker Jane (and you should, everyone should) go take a look at her spooky-cute creations on her flickr page.

I found these 2 guys in a small shop in Calgary during my vacation. I have been a fan of the plush made by Monster Factory for a few years now, but this was the first time I had the chance to actually see some in person. They are fantastic!! SO filled with stuffing that they weigh a good amount, and boy are they SOLID. I had the good fortune to choose Buddy and Todd here from a pretty large selection. I just love Buddy's smile and body shape, and I choose Todd because of his headphones and slightly nervous expression. I highly recommend that you check out the Monster Factory store to see all the other goodies that they've created-it's just such fun to browse through, and it'll make you smile.

Check out just some of the groovy entries for Plush Team's "Plushstock" challenge. In tribute to the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, members of the team (including squirrel momma, moons creations, and jefita as pictured above) have done a great job creating their own versions of the musicians, symbols, instruments, and hippies who made Woodstock so memorable. I was away on vacation and missed the deadline for this challenge unfortunately. Total bummer dude!
Don't forget to head on over to the PT blog to see all the entries and cast your vote!!

It's that time again! Meet Emily B. of Follow the White Rabbit. Emily makes some of the best mohawk'd deer you'll ever see and in the most amazing color combinations. She also makes wonderful plush dolls, a small sampling can be seen below:
Princes Leia and R2D2: (currently seen at the Stitch Wars show)
Pierrot: (for the Mortal Plush show)
Madawaska: (for Stuff This II)
and the cutest Mini Ghosties you'll ever see:
Here's what Emily has to say about making plush:
"I hand sew plush toys from my own designs. I make woodland animals, dark creatures and frilly heroines. I'm an Animator, and have worked on movies, TV shows and commercials. I've been creating art since I could hold a pencil, but sewing is fairly new to me. I love creating 3 dimensional objects out of 2 dimensional materials. My Etsy shop's name: "Follow The White Rabbit" is a nod to one of my favourite stories: "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland". When Alice followed the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole, she discovered Wonderland, a place where everything is curious, creative, and spontaneous, and filled with strange and wonderful creatures. :)"
Check out Emily's work on her etsy shop, and you can see the plush deer in person at the Chukwa store and gallery in Fullerton, CA. If you like custom painted vinyl toys, take a look at Emily's blog to see all the fantastic custom vinyl that she does.

I'm back from my sewing vacation, and getting started on the plush for fall art shows. This guy is my second plush for the show in October at Schmancy, and I have a few more little details to add before he's finished. Gotta get a move on and get him done, as the deadline is coming up fast! I can't wait to see this show in person, there are so many talented artists showing this year.
First things first though- I have to find my machine under all the piles of fabric- I know it's there somewhere....
