<br />
I've listed a trio of furry Fauns, a set of twins, a trio of hipster dudes, and one literary Princess from a land called Oz. The Fauns were a lot of fun to make, as they were my first foray into using a lot of faux-fur for plush:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Gc-sqtXBouc/VLs4QeFQkOI/AAAAAAAAJlA/U73hNthS0ts/s1600/Friedrich%2BFaun%2Betsy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Gc-sqtXBouc/VLs4QeFQkOI/AAAAAAAAJlA/U73hNthS0ts/s1600/Friedrich%2BFaun%2Betsy.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Friedrich Faun</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7LdFRXmANIg/VLs4cozhHnI/AAAAAAAAJlI/IgONp7HbqSM/s1600/Furry%2BFauns%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7LdFRXmANIg/VLs4cozhHnI/AAAAAAAAJlI/IgONp7HbqSM/s1600/Furry%2BFauns%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Peneolpe and Maximillian Faun</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The twins are sold separately, and are dressed in their favorite not-quite matching winter dresses made from snowflake printed cottons:<br />

<br />
This trio of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PlushGoodness?section_id=16620124&ref=shopsection_leftnav_7">Hipster Dudes</a> were a ton of fun to make, and have lovely soft patterned flannel sweaters, fun patterned cotton shirts, all kinds of facial hair, and the obligatory dark denim jeans.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j9Cu_lLp5y8/VLs5oxT-5TI/AAAAAAAAJlk/rfH1Nsu1kA4/s1600/Hipster%2BDudes%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j9Cu_lLp5y8/VLs5oxT-5TI/AAAAAAAAJlk/rfH1Nsu1kA4/s1600/Hipster%2BDudes%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last but not least we have the lovely <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/218949135/ozma-of-oz-plush-doll?ref=shop_home_active_1">Princess Ozma of Oz</a>, who was created for the Wizard of Oz art show at Schmancy Toys in Seattle. I had a great time creating her, and am thinking of doing a whole Oz series… what do you guys think?<br />

What a busy time the past few months have been. The holidays were exciting and busy, and I'm so thankful to all of you who came out to the Winter UCU show in December and said hello and/or bought some plush from me. It was a fantastic experience and I'm hoping to do it again this coming holiday season as well, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's only January. :D<br />
<br />
Here are a few pics of my booth from the Winter Show, which was my best show of the year. Again, a HUGE thanks to everyone who bought some plush from me in 2014!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So what's new for me in 2015 you ask? Well, I have re-opened my <a href="http://www.plushgoodness.etsy.com/">etsy shop</a> after my holiday hiatus, am starting to get myself organized to create a bunch of new work for this year's booth at <a href="http://emeraldcitycomicon.com/">Emerald City Comic Con</a>; but before I do that, I will be finishing up a commission and then embarking on the very scary project of totally cleaning and re-organizing my studio space! YIKES! Wish me luck and fingers crossed that I don't wind up buried under an avalanche of fabric…</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stay tuned for more updates and project reveals as they come- IF I survive my studio cleaning project, that is. ;D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy New Year everyone and hello 2015!</div>

I was really excited to get asked to participate in this show by the ever-amazing <a href="http://www.lanacrooks.com/">Lana Crooks</a>, who curated the show along with the Gallery.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tIzmIaHpOFE/VFq6z0CwYEI/AAAAAAAAI70/1eCmaKHmqG4/s1600/Square%2Bcommon-threads-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tIzmIaHpOFE/VFq6z0CwYEI/AAAAAAAAI70/1eCmaKHmqG4/s1600/Square%2Bcommon-threads-2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
For this show I wanted to try something that I hadn't done too much before, which was create with a bunch of faux fur, layering the two colors of fur to create my own textile for the effect that I wanted. I braved the dreaded "fluff-lung" that comes with cutting/sewing faux fur to create this guy, my first Faun.<br />
<br />
Friedrich Faun teaches math by day at the prestigious Woodland Academy; but by night he rocks out with his punk band, Verdant.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccOFl7EBAv4/VFq6FyQ4pvI/AAAAAAAAI7s/Bpo-j_eJrpo/s1600/IMG_3827.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccOFl7EBAv4/VFq6FyQ4pvI/AAAAAAAAI7s/Bpo-j_eJrpo/s1600/IMG_3827.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used a variety of fabrics to create Friedrich, including faux-suede for his face, hands and ears, as well as faux-leathers for his horns and hooves. His facial features are made from wool felt, with a hand embroidered mouth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4BpImJHz6cA/VFq4d_NcDoI/AAAAAAAAI7Q/qC-bEuxwt9Q/s1600/FriedrichFaun%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4BpImJHz6cA/VFq4d_NcDoI/AAAAAAAAI7Q/qC-bEuxwt9Q/s1600/FriedrichFaun%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"> His tail coat is made from plaid flannel, with houndstooth flannel lapels and cuffs. His shirt is a funky patterned quilting cotton, and the patches on his jacket elbow are wool felt. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UjuxtxIp-w0/VFq4hburoxI/AAAAAAAAI7Y/G6ABz81IknE/s1600/FriedrichFaun%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness%2Brearview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UjuxtxIp-w0/VFq4hburoxI/AAAAAAAAI7Y/G6ABz81IknE/s1600/FriedrichFaun%2Bby%2BPlushGoodness%2Brearview.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I felt that if I made Friedrich's hair out of the same color fur as his legs, that it would get overwhelming, so I chose to use the dark brown fur for his hair, but add in the caramel colored fur for his goatee and for a highlight in his bangs. (Thus the punk-rocking, maths teaching Faun was born. :D)<br />
The reverse applied for the dark brown patches on his legs- I wanted to make sure that the fur on his head was integrated into the design and looked natural.<br />

Lately it seems like I can't find enough time to fit in all the things I have to and want to do, which includes spending the time to update my blog regularly. Life has gotten in the way for the past 6-7 months, and I am going to try and remedy that situation starting today! You might notice a change to the blog design- I decided to start fresh and update the look of things.<br />
<br />
Since I last posted, I vended at my first Emerald Con, which was a blast and a feast for the eyes! Such people watching! Thanks to everyone who came out and stopped by the booth, we had a terrific time seeing you all. Here's a quick look at our booth set-up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X5oHp77ZvNA/VFqrwvmN38I/AAAAAAAAI4w/d_axDXCDB9I/s1600/IMG_1029.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X5oHp77ZvNA/VFqrwvmN38I/AAAAAAAAI4w/d_axDXCDB9I/s1600/IMG_1029.jpg" height="320" width="307" /></a></div>

<br />
It was great seeing our good friends Daniel and Dawna over at <a href="http://steamcrow.com/">Steam Crow</a> for the weekend, as well as meeting some new friends, like Rick and Jeff at the <a href="http://www.zoms.com/">ZOMs</a> booth across from us.<br />
<br />
After Emerald Con, I was really excited to be accepted into the summer <a href="http://www.urbancraftuprising.com/">Urban Craft Uprising</a> craft show at the Seattle Exhibition Hall in July, where I had my own booth for the very first time! It was a change from all the shared booth shows I've done in the past, and it was so much fun. A bit nerve-racking, but fun. I met some great people there, and saw some repeat customers from Emerald Con, which was awesome.<br />

I'm almost caught up on my plush-making exploits of the past few months, so I'll say good-bye for now, but I will be back next week with more updates and plush-making progress to share! In the meantime, you can always find me over on <a href="http://instagram.com/plushgoodness">instagram</a>, where I upload pics of my progress every day or so. See you next week!</div>

Frantically sewing my butt off to prepare for my first ever experience at <a href="http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/">Emerald Con</a> in Seattle next week! I'm sharing a booth with the awesome <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/">Schmancy Toys</a>, so we should have a great time. I know we'll meet some awesome people and see some fantastic cosplay, so it will be a real treat for the people-watcher in me. Who knows, maybe I'll come back from it totally inspired by all the colorful and creative costumes I'll see there, no to mention the cool art that will be on display in Artist's Alley and beyond. :D<br />
<br />
Here are just a <b>few</b> pics of some of the new pieces that I am working on for the booth, as well as my new corner display piece that I found at a vintage shop last weekend- I just have to re-paint it and it will be perfect.<br />

That's why I was SO exited to see that the secret santa swap box that came in the mail for me last week was from her!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Every year the Plush Team does a swap after Christmas, and it's tons of fun seeing what everyone gets. Here's what came in my box:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
AMAZING, right?! Sushi is my favorite food, and I was squealing with excitement as I unwrapped the package and saw what was in it. Just look at those faces- and the wasabi and ginger put it totally over the top. Not to mention the perfection of the wood grained fabric for the sushi board. I love it! Thanks a million Becky for an amazing plush piece of art. It's fantastic and will have a home with me forever. :D<br />
<br />
Now I just have to figure out the perfect place to display it…<br />
<br />

<br />
I created my version of Cupid for the Plush Team's annual swap, which was Valentine's Day themed. I always wanted to create a Cupid plush, so this seemed like a great time to try. He's made from fleece, with various heart patterned cottons for his tunic, boots and in the inside of his ears. I created the bow and quiver from sparkly white felt, and made some teeny heart arrows as well. Instead of making a cherub-style Cupid, I thought it would be more fun to make him into a teddy bear.<br />

This little guy winged his way off to <a href="http://www.ninicipollini.etsy.com/">Nini Cipollini</a>, who is a newer member of the Plush Team. I'll be posting what <b><i>I</i></b> got for the swap soon- just as soon as I get some decent photos of the awesomeness that was sent to me from <a href="http://www.scrumptiousdelight.etsy.com/">Scrumptious Deligh</a>t- you're gonna love it- I know that I do! :DLeeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-41547535682776731842014-01-23T11:29:00.001-08:002014-01-23T11:29:53.771-08:00A New Year begins...A belated Happy New Year! It's been a good start to 2014 so far, with some actual personal time(!) to sit back and relax, read some books and watch some movies, and chart the year ahead for myself and my plush-making. January is always a weird month, as I find myself wanting to create new things, but also struggling with some burn-out and the need to re-charge the creative batteries. That's where the movies and books come in, as well as visiting museums, it gets my creative juices flowing again.<br />
<br />
After all that re-charging I'm back at work making some new plush: for a commission, and for the Plush Team traditional January swap, as well as finishing up a late Christmas gift for one of my nieces. This is the <a href="http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki">Minecraft </a>pillow that I created for my game-obsessed niece, and thankfully she loved it! You can see the process in a few photos:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The pillow is made from fleece, with wool felt accents. It took me while to get all those letters cut out and sewn on, but it was worth it. :)<br />
<br />
Right now I'm in the process of creating my piece for the PT swap, which has a Valentine's Day motif; as well as sketching out the pattern for my latest commission- also due by Valentine's Day. More on those two projects later...<br />
<br />
2014 is going to be a fun and busy year for me, and my first big event is sharing a booth at <a href="http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/">Emerald Con</a> in Seattle at the end of March with the awesome Kristen of <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/">Schmancy Toys</a>! It's going to be fun but a lot of work getting ready for this show, so I'm starting now. I hope to keep my blog updated more often this year, and that should be easy with the amount of stuff I am planning on creating in the next few months… fingers crossed! ;D<br />
<br />
Have a great rest of January, and I'll be back with more updates soon!Leeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-31126596848591853212013-11-22T13:19:00.001-08:002013-11-22T13:19:07.786-08:00Phew! Where did the time go?It's hard to believe it's been over a month since I last blogged. There has been a lot going on in the past month, that's for sure!<br />
<br />
I'll share some of the highlights with you, one of which was the trip out to Cincinnati in mid-October with some of my <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/">Plush Team</a> peeps for Cincinnati's first ever Maker Faire, and there was Halloween plush, and Wizard of Oz themed plush made somewhere in there, AND a trip to LA for the opening of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Art-of-Ben-Butcher/203710306465702">Ben's solo art show</a> as well. Hmmmm... I think I'll restrict the size of this post by limiting it to the events of Maker Faire weekend in order to spare your eyeballs. ;D<br />
<br />
The trip to Cincy was a blast, and even though the weather was uncooperative (cold and rainy), we had a great day of sales, classes, and promoting hand made. A HUGE thanks to Abby of <a href="http://www.abbydid.com/">Abbydid</a> for being our Team plush wrangler and supply depot, and for being our tour guide. I'd also like to thank AC of <a href="http://www.hiboudesigns.etsy.com/">Hibou Designs</a>, Diane of <a href="http://www.dkoss2.etsy.com/">Cutesy But Not Cutesy</a>, Zazu of<a href="http://www.zfla.etsy.com/"> zfla</a>, and Stephanie of <a href="http://www.littlecritters.etsy.com/">Little Critters</a> for traveling out to Cincinnati to help run the booth and teach classes. You ladies ROCK! :D<br />
Here are a few of the images from the weekend:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a whirlwind weekend in Cincinnati, but we had a great time and the people we met were really great and made the day a good one. Thanks Cincinnati! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also had the good fortune to stay a few days longer to do a bit of sight-seeing, and to step inside one of the icons of my childhood, which was the <a href="http://superfriends.wikia.com/wiki/Hall_of_Justice">Hall of Justice from the Super Friends cartoon</a> (OMG!!), which in reality is the amazing Art-Deco designed <a href="http://www.cincymuseum.org/union-terminal">Union Terminal in Cincinnati</a>. I was like a little kid clapping my hands with glee as we walked around the building! It was amazing, and photos don't really do it justice (pun intended ;D), but here are a few anyway:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The terminal now houses a bunch of different museums, as well as Amtrak, making it a must-see if you are ever in the Cincinnati area. Abby was kind enough to show me around this amazing building, and I have to say it was one of the highlights of any trip I've taken so far. :D<br />
<br />
That's all for now, and I hope that you all had a great Halloween, and a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday to come if you are American. Hopefully it won't be another month before I post again... See you soon!Leeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-60138730308747479492013-10-11T13:35:00.000-07:002013-10-11T13:35:45.914-07:00PlushYou! show opens tonight! It's that time of year again! Hooray for the annual plush art show curated and hosted by the awesome Kristen of <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/">Schmancy Toys</a> in Seattle.<br />
<br />
Here are the pieces that I created for the show- inspired by the beautiful flower gardens in the neighborhood were I walk the dog every day. These two girls are Flower Sprites- those beings responsible for making your garden blossom and bloom into something wonderful.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kmq7pIvw33s/UlhepxKUKdI/AAAAAAAAD4c/MXFYEm9gRMc/s1600/Bloom+and+Blossom+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kmq7pIvw33s/UlhepxKUKdI/AAAAAAAAD4c/MXFYEm9gRMc/s320/Bloom+and+Blossom+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" width="257" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bloom and Blossom</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Bloom is more excitable than her sister, Blossom. She really gets into her job turning the small blossoms into full-fledged and beautiful flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zFb3prKuxbg/UlheqGPg-8I/AAAAAAAAD4g/PQbNqAjFYmk/s1600/Bloom+By+PlushGoodness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zFb3prKuxbg/UlheqGPg-8I/AAAAAAAAD4g/PQbNqAjFYmk/s320/Bloom+By+PlushGoodness.jpg" width="232" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted the forms and clothing to evoke the organic shapes of flowers and buds. Blossom is made from fleece, with felt facial features and flower in her hair. Her clothing is made from patterned cottons, and she has felt leaves growing from her arms and legs.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Bloom's skirt is not only removable, it's reversible, too. :D<br />
<br />

<br />
Blossom is definitely more "zen" than her sister, and her color palette was chosen to reflect that difference.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vky_yELpF8Q/UlherR-zHvI/AAAAAAAAD44/za9sHnXMGCg/s1600/Blossom+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vky_yELpF8Q/UlherR-zHvI/AAAAAAAAD44/za9sHnXMGCg/s320/Blossom+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Blossom is also made from fleece, felt, and cottons. Flowers are blossoming on her, and she also has leaves sprouting on her arms and legs.<br />
<br />

This year I am in a ghastly, I mean ghostly mood! Getting my Halloween on has been fun, but I am also getting plush done for the most fun plush show of the year: <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/blog/schmancy/plush-you-0">PlushYou!</a> at the awesome <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/">Schmancy Toys </a>in Seattle! The show opens Friday, October 11th, and I'm lucky enough to be going this year. I promise to take tons of photos, and do a post here to show all the great pieces created for the show. There are a ton of great artists in this show, and you will find interviews with many of them up on the PlushYou! <a href="http://www.schmancytoys.com/blog/schmancy/plush-you-0">blog</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay- here's a sneak peek of my pieces- I will do a blog post next week closer to the opening to reveal the finished product. </div>

The <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/">Plush Team</a> is having its own booth at the first ever <a href="http://cincinnatimakerfaire.com/">Mini-Maker Faire</a> in Cincinnati, Ohio in a few weeks! If you are in the area, come on by and say hello on October 19th at Washington Park! I'll be there helping to run the booth with a few other of our Team members, and we will have various plush activities going on all day, as well as a bunch of plush awesomeness to see and buy from our members from around the globe. It's going to be a great day. :D</div>

I decided that since it's the start of the Fall season, that my plush should be something that incorporates a fun fall element into it. The result was my first ever mini plush Jack O'Lantern headband:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7DIRWHgpa_8/UjieJPvxADI/AAAAAAAAD2I/8D7zxPUH8n0/s1600/jackolanternheadband.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7DIRWHgpa_8/UjieJPvxADI/AAAAAAAAD2I/8D7zxPUH8n0/s320/jackolanternheadband.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3gJEkLgt7a8/UjieI5AkToI/AAAAAAAAD2Q/TlsrRqcp92Y/s1600/Jackolanternheadband+closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3gJEkLgt7a8/UjieI5AkToI/AAAAAAAAD2Q/TlsrRqcp92Y/s320/Jackolanternheadband+closeup.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bHzF41bWasQ/UjieJJqBoHI/AAAAAAAAD2M/4c49yEvJFc0/s1600/jackolanternheadbandonpea.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bHzF41bWasQ/UjieJJqBoHI/AAAAAAAAD2M/4c49yEvJFc0/s320/jackolanternheadbandonpea.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
The plush pumpkin is made from fleece, with sparkly felt facial details. I also decided to add some wool felt pumpkin leaves with machine stitched veining in fall colors, to add more fun to the headband. The headband is one that I picked up at my local Michael's store, and it will fit babies up to 6-8 months or so. Since I didn't have any babies on hand to model it for me, I was lucky that the gracious Peas in a Pod volunteered to be my model for the photo shoot. ;D<br />
<br />
You can find my headband, as well as a variety of fantastic <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/plushteam?section_id=13927808">wearable plush</a>, in the <a href="http://www.plushteam.etsy.com/">Plush Team's etsy shop.</a> Here are just a few examples of some of the other pieces made by the talented members of the Team:<br />

Oh- and if you are in the mood for some "Back to School" themed plush, the Team has a <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/plushteam?section_id=13998026">section of the shop</a> devoted to that as well. :D<br />
<br />
I am busy as a bee getting ready for a bunch of art shows, as well as creating a bunch of plush for the Plush Team's booth at <a href="http://cincinnatimakerfaire.com/">Maker Faire Cincinnati</a> next month, as well as trying to get some fall/halloween plush into my shop, so there will be more to come soon! :D<br />

I have such fond memories of these books from my childhood!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C4JTxRgsbS0/UhPE6TDFruI/AAAAAAAADvM/zh07yji98H4/s1600/inspiration.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C4JTxRgsbS0/UhPE6TDFruI/AAAAAAAADvM/zh07yji98H4/s320/inspiration.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After flipping through all the books, I decided to make plush of the awesome Mr. Funny, and the nose-in-the-air Little Miss Splendid. In order to make them more than just an exact re-creation of the character, I used different textured and patterned fabrics to add some flair to their already larger than life personalities.<br />
<br />
Meet Mr. Funny:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bwn3yXb-FMM/UhPF5k4L36I/AAAAAAAADvU/2GZAZuwXo3U/s1600/Mr.Funny+plush+by+LButcher.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bwn3yXb-FMM/UhPF5k4L36I/AAAAAAAADvU/2GZAZuwXo3U/s320/Mr.Funny+plush+by+LButcher.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xY1RL7-nkU0/UhPF7Mvps9I/AAAAAAAADvc/zIxRevuex1k/s1600/Mr.Funny+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xY1RL7-nkU0/UhPF7Mvps9I/AAAAAAAADvc/zIxRevuex1k/s320/Mr.Funny+closeup.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a super soft and "funny" checkered, lime green minky fabric for his body, and a swirly yellow flannel for his gloves, with a fun patterned red and green cotton for his shoes. His hat is made from bright yellow felt, with a blue cotton band. He wouldn't be complete without the flower in his hat band, which is made from felt, with a green pipe cleaner as the "stem."<br />
<br />
<br />
Here she is in all her snootiness; Little Mis Splendid:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AHv5kppO9WE/UhPF8w23qkI/AAAAAAAADvk/Afi7Zmxf7W8/s1600/LittleMissSplendid+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AHv5kppO9WE/UhPF8w23qkI/AAAAAAAADvk/Afi7Zmxf7W8/s320/LittleMissSplendid+closeup.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eY137VPlMPw/UhPF85idD4I/AAAAAAAADvo/DIB00mqMFcM/s1600/LittleMissSplendid+Plush+by+LButcher.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eY137VPlMPw/UhPF85idD4I/AAAAAAAADvo/DIB00mqMFcM/s320/LittleMissSplendid+Plush+by+LButcher.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I stayed true to her color scheme from the books, just added in some coral patterned and solid cottons to inject some more panache and style into her wardrobe, along with a more sophisticated blue for her hat band and purse closure. I think that she would approve. :) Her body and hair are made from yellow fleeces, which make her pretty cuddly. Although I'm not sure she's the cuddling type... ;)<br />
<br />
If you are in the LA area, and a fan of these books, you won't want to miss this show! The <a href="http://iam8bit.com/">iam8bit gallery </a> on Sunset will be transformed into scenes from Roger Hargreaves world, and there are all sorts of fun activities planned. I really wish that I could go to the opening! There is going to be some amazing art on display. :D The show opens on Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 and runs for a few weeks.<br />

At first, I had NO idea what to make, and then I started thinking back to my family vacations, and volia! I had my idea.<br />
<span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;">These plush are based on a true event that happened to my family as we were playing poolside on Christmas morning, 1982 in CanCun, Mexico.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br style="text-align: left;" /><span style="text-align: left;">My sister (4yrs old) and I (8yrs old) watched in horror, alongside a bunch of other families next to the pool as a group of "orderlies" headed up by a truly ugly "Nurse" (on closer inspection we realized that the "she" was actually a "he" in full drag, with seriously hairy legs and stubble and chest hair) carried on a stretcher a sprawled out Santa towards the edge of the pool. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jy1nHX9ug3c/Udcn1cmGmTI/AAAAAAAADtE/G4zYJA-PJwA/s1600/CDnurse+and+DSanta.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jy1nHX9ug3c/Udcn1cmGmTI/AAAAAAAADtE/G4zYJA-PJwA/s320/CDnurse+and+DSanta.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;">Santa seemed to be drinking blood (THE HORROR!) out of an IV Bag on the stretcher. All the orderlies and the nurse were laughing their butts off, and were clearly drunk themselves.</span><span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;"> </span><br />
<span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WZqWnY51BXo/Udcnk0uZsEI/AAAAAAAADtA/Wm2BXg3SFC4/s1600/Cross+Dressing+NUrse+and+drunk+santa.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WZqWnY51BXo/Udcnk0uZsEI/AAAAAAAADtA/Wm2BXg3SFC4/s320/Cross+Dressing+NUrse+and+drunk+santa.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;">Without any warning, the orderlies heaved Santa into the pool, and then they all jumped in after him. Needless to say, my sister was HORRIFIED that they'd tried to drown Santa, and it took my parents a loooooong time to calm her down enough to where she could listen and understand that it was someone else dressed in a very tight and too-small Santa suit pretending to be Santa, and that he wasn't drinking actual blood, it was an alcoholic drink called a Bloody Mary.</span><span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;"> </span><br />

<br />
First off is the plush that I created as part of a thank you for the awesome JMonster of <a href="http://www.ionlylikemonsters.com/">I Only Like Monsters</a> fame- she was the judge of the Plush Team's<a href="http://www.plushteam.com/2013/04/plushteam-in-fairyland.html"> last Challenge</a>, which was fairy-tale themed.<br />
I decided to make JMonster a FrankenSquirrel, which is the first one that I've made, and appropriate for someone who loves monsters, don't you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-soR1FQgVf0c/Ua-Mh8laqUI/AAAAAAAADrI/m4pYn_anOA8/s1600/FrankenSquirrel+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-soR1FQgVf0c/Ua-Mh8laqUI/AAAAAAAADrI/m4pYn_anOA8/s320/FrankenSquirrel+by+PlushGoodness.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next: I am very excited to announce that I was invited to take part in <a href="http://www.uglydolls.com/">Ugly Doll'</a>s art show, UglyCon, at<a href="http://www.giantrobot.com/events/gr2-615-saturday-uglycon/"> Giant Robot Gallery in Los Angeles</a> that opens June 15th. Tons of awesome plush-makers were invited to do their own interpretation of the Ugly Doll character,<a href="http://www.uglydolls.com/k/search?q=Babo"> Babo</a>.<br />
It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do with Babo, but after doing some thinking and sketching, I decided to do an homage to the summers in my hometown. Every July, Calgary puts on a HUGE outdoor rodeo called the <a href="http://www.calgarystampede.com/">Calgary Stampede and Exhibition.</a> Everyone in the city, and a ton of people from all over the world get dressed in their best cowboy gear and come downtown to see the parade, have pancake breakfasts, and watch the rodeo events. Not to mention play games and ride rides on the midway, as well as eat all sorts of carnival-type food (i.e. mini donuts, cotton candy, candy apples etc), go to concerts, (if you're an adult- you get to drink LOTS of adult beverages and for 10 days your employers will mostly forgive you if you take off early or come in late ;D) and look at all the stuff on exhibit and for sale in the various outbuildings. As a kid, it was one of the best parts of summer. So, after that long preamble, here is my Buckaroo Babo:<br />
<br />
Howdy Y'all!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jRYKnwaqpMM/Ua-RBhlJKjI/AAAAAAAADrY/zXTIFG0WYLI/s1600/Buckaroo+Babo+by+PlushGoodness.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jRYKnwaqpMM/Ua-RBhlJKjI/AAAAAAAADrY/zXTIFG0WYLI/s320/Buckaroo+Babo+by+PlushGoodness.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GFU8pwzbbqc/Ua-RB_V5wKI/AAAAAAAADrc/88uxHGLmPt8/s1600/Buckaroo+Babo+closeup+by+PlushGoodness.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GFU8pwzbbqc/Ua-RB_V5wKI/AAAAAAAADrc/88uxHGLmPt8/s320/Buckaroo+Babo+closeup+by+PlushGoodness.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It was a ton of fun getting Babo's cowboy on: his jeans are made from actual jeans, his shirt is made from bandanna material, and his chaps (pronounced "shaps") are made from faux-leather with a faux-suede fringe. His belt buckle and cowboy hat are made from felt. Black cowboy hats are usually worn by those considering themselves tough, and this Babo is one of the toughest cookie rustlers in the Wild West. (Babo loves cookies.) If you are in the LA area next weekend, head on over to <a href="http://www.giantrobot.com/events/gr2-615-saturday-uglycon/">Giant Robot</a> for all the UglyCon festivities- it looks like they've got some great fun planned. :)<br />

The show is curated by the awesome <a href="http://lanacrooks.com/">Lana "Plushinator" Crooks</a>, and hosted by <a href="http://www.cluttermagazine.com/">Clutter Magazine</a> in their Gallery.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ckPbxp1DOcw/UWW8XfhFyeI/AAAAAAAADo8/FRvq5hAa60c/s1600/stitched+card+2+Final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ckPbxp1DOcw/UWW8XfhFyeI/AAAAAAAADo8/FRvq5hAa60c/s400/stitched+card+2+Final.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was tough deciding what I wanted to make for the show, and it took me some time to get my new studio space to the point where I could actually do some sewing, as you can see from this photo:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8wdVEPBzbKU/UWW5Gnp8fBI/AAAAAAAADoU/jluQrv-KUro/s1600/New+home+fo+PLush+Goodness-before+unpacking.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8wdVEPBzbKU/UWW5Gnp8fBI/AAAAAAAADoU/jluQrv-KUro/s320/New+home+fo+PLush+Goodness-before+unpacking.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After some frantic unpacking, I found enough of my supplies, and got to work creating this guy: Captain Archibald Jones, retired Navy officer who now spends his days sailing his sloop, the Amelia, through the waters of the Puget Sound.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FH8PG9v1ekQ/UWW6M3_a5QI/AAAAAAAADok/3AZdWw_uwwQ/s1600/Capt.Archibald+Jones+mid-shot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FH8PG9v1ekQ/UWW6M3_a5QI/AAAAAAAADok/3AZdWw_uwwQ/s320/Capt.Archibald+Jones+mid-shot.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QzeVEuOF4f8/UWW6M04MM9I/AAAAAAAADoo/PWI6L4Vra90/s1600/Capt.Archibald+Jones.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QzeVEuOF4f8/UWW6M04MM9I/AAAAAAAADoo/PWI6L4Vra90/s320/Capt.Archibald+Jones.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Captain Jones is wearing a very soft navy wool pea coat and hat, with wool trousers. He wears a nautical striped shirt and has a nautical themed belt buckle on his faux-leather belt. The Captain has a peg-leg, which he doesn't like to talk about, but uses very well, thank you very much. He doesn't go anywhere without his pipe, which is made from cork. Since he retired from the Navy, he let his hair grow, and now he resembles the Old Man of the Sea, which is the way he likes it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JO3HYM9XlP4/UWW6NKaIWdI/AAAAAAAADow/rCEBg3FnJlU/s1600/Capt.+Archibald+Jones+closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JO3HYM9XlP4/UWW6NKaIWdI/AAAAAAAADow/rCEBg3FnJlU/s320/Capt.+Archibald+Jones+closeup.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>

Ahoy maties! I'm off to unpack and organize my studio properly, which should only take the rest of the week. ;D</div>

More plush will be coming soon, so stay tuned.</div>

I loved making Icarus the first time around, when it was for the <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/2010/04/we-need-your-vote-vote-now-for-plush.html">Plush Team's Mythology Challenge</a>, and making him a second time was just as fun, if not more. This new Icarus will be hanging on the wall of Baby Icarus' nursery, which is awesome!<br />
<br />
Due to the quick turnaround I had to make and ship him, I didn't have time for more polished photos, but you get the idea:<br />
<br />
Here he is without wings:<br />

And with his wings attached:</div>

I'll be taking a hiatus from my blog and etsy shop as Plush Goodness headquarters moves to its new and exciting location: more on that in a few weeks! :D</div>

<br />
Meet Claudine Clodhopper:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f_rh281mVP4/USe3osvB03I/AAAAAAAADlw/A5kAn6lkNj0/s1600/Claudine+Clodhopper.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f_rh281mVP4/USe3osvB03I/AAAAAAAADlw/A5kAn6lkNj0/s320/Claudine+Clodhopper.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/PlushGoodness?section_id=6740101">Clodhoppers</a> are a species of BigFoot that love to wear mis-matched socks. Claudine is a big fan of Mardi Gras, and gets out her mask and fleur de lis brooch every year, along with her beads and coins, and heads out to have fun with her friends.<br />
<br />
She is made from a super soft and cuddly shaggy plush minky, which makes her great for snuggling with. The mask is removable and made out of felt, with gold trim and feathers - it's not Mardi Gras without feathers, right? ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZdAMrkSW45s/USe5geBo66I/AAAAAAAADl4/9y3WosVSD6E/s1600/Claudine+clodhopper+mask+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZdAMrkSW45s/USe5geBo66I/AAAAAAAADl4/9y3WosVSD6E/s320/Claudine+clodhopper+mask+closeup.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eawFVdncMHY/USe5iK9LBqI/AAAAAAAADmA/jY_Rrsl0xf0/s1600/Claudine+Clodhopper+masko+off.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eawFVdncMHY/USe5iK9LBqI/AAAAAAAADmA/jY_Rrsl0xf0/s320/Claudine+Clodhopper+masko+off.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You can find a few of Claudine's cousins hanging around in my <a href="http://www.plushgoodness,etsy.com/">etsy shop</a>- they are eagerly waiting to go off on new adventures. :)Leeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-12805215774439521632013-02-16T16:57:00.001-08:002013-02-16T16:57:05.487-08:00Plush Mardi Gras!I received my awesome "Mardi Gras in a box" from the terrific <a href="http://www.pattihaskins.etsy.com/">Patti Haskins</a> last week, which was part of the <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/">Plush Team's</a> yearly secret santa swap this year. I was <i>really</i> excited to open it up, and here's what I found inside:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm9b5wp_t7A/USAnwBEGhSI/AAAAAAAADkw/7c8IXDZHE6g/s1600/Mardi+Gras+in+a+box+from+Patti.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mm9b5wp_t7A/USAnwBEGhSI/AAAAAAAADkw/7c8IXDZHE6g/s320/Mardi+Gras+in+a+box+from+Patti.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z9eJvcD3Qc4/USAnyDDXxBI/AAAAAAAADk4/Ja-M-Jn0680/s320/Mardi+Gras+crown+by+Patti+Haskins.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<br />
Besides the fun Mardi Gras bling in the box, the star of the show was this amazing handmade plush Mardi Gras Crown! So awesome! It was so fantastic that some of my new plush snuck it out of the box along with some bling, and decided to have a Mardi Gras party of their own while I was out of the house on Tuesday. It seems that Merv the Muppet Reporter was named King of this Mardi Gras celebration, and, as you can see, really enjoyed having that crown on! (I think that they opened up the bottle of Yermit wine that Santa had, and this was the result. ;D)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwINjriWktA/USAo1-rGpBI/AAAAAAAADlA/D81ZBwKnYRw/s1600/MardiGras+party+PT+Swap+2013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwINjriWktA/USAo1-rGpBI/AAAAAAAADlA/D81ZBwKnYRw/s320/MardiGras+party+PT+Swap+2013.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks a million Patti for the awesome plush crown- as you can see, it's being put to good use already.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you're wondering what I made for my secret santa, here's a teaser of the plush all wrapped up. I'll be unveiling it after my swap partner has a chance to enjoy it for a bit. :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

New plush...again. :DAs promised in my earlier post, I have<i> finally</i> taken the time to snap some photos of the awesome collection of plush that I received for Christmas this year. I was seriously excited to open up the boxes containing these guys, let me tell you!<br />

<br />

And, last but not least, I got this guy from the Plush You! Show this year- A Highland Bull by <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/andapandabcn">AndaPanda</a>, who is from Spain. I'm a sucker for corduroy, and this guy is so full of character:<br />

<br />
I'm working on a special Mardi Gras plush at the moment, since the Plush Team is having its annual swap, which is of course totally fun and is getting everyone in the mood to "laissez les bon temps roulez!" Check out the plush created for the swap so far (along with other fun topics) over on the <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/">Plush Team's blog.</a> I received my swap in the mail yesterday, and I'll be posting the photos over on the blog soon. :DLeeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-16637876026798236902013-01-07T04:00:00.000-08:002013-01-07T04:00:03.724-08:00A New Year, and new plush for my collectionHappy 2013 everyone!<br />
I am busy getting my studio re-organized and tidied up, so I don't have any new plush created to show you yet, but here are a few of the newer pieces that I've added to my collection just before the holidays. You might say these were gifts to myself. ;D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BF5i6_nQLuk/UOpX3nzw3nI/AAAAAAAADh8/9dpFtu4ZNIc/s1600/Fuming+Flames-+lana+crooks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BF5i6_nQLuk/UOpX3nzw3nI/AAAAAAAADh8/9dpFtu4ZNIc/s320/Fuming+Flames-+lana+crooks.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
This is "Fuming Flames" by the awesome <a href="http://www.plushinator.etsy.com/">Lana Crooks</a>. He doesn't look too happy to be in my collection, but he'll get over it, eventually.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rWBfeAJr9qU/UOpYA7mDvjI/AAAAAAAADiE/querSMILJKU/s1600/Masked+Monster+bandit+closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rWBfeAJr9qU/UOpYA7mDvjI/AAAAAAAADiE/querSMILJKU/s320/Masked+Monster+bandit+closeup.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the "Masked Monster Bandit" by the talented and eco-friendly <a href="http://www.sweetpoppycat.etsy.com/">Sweet Poppy Cat</a>. He is so cuddly and I love the way that she makes the legs. He's made from upcycled cashmere and wool sweaters.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-m7FdsUpQI/UOpYHFD8ZFI/AAAAAAAADiM/xQkqoH6qsfk/s1600/Masked+Monster+Bandit+by+Sweet+Poppy+Cat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-m7FdsUpQI/UOpYHFD8ZFI/AAAAAAAADiM/xQkqoH6qsfk/s320/Masked+Monster+Bandit+by+Sweet+Poppy+Cat.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
This cool creature is a "Woodland Friend" from the lovely <a href="http://fakoloc.blogspot.com/">Let's Be Friends</a>. The fabric combination on this guy is awesome, and I love the feathers and his expression.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-df3f7gAxFmw/UOpYOo8rAiI/AAAAAAAADiU/HYwHCybxGpo/s1600/Woodland+Friend+by+Let's+be+Friends.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-df3f7gAxFmw/UOpYOo8rAiI/AAAAAAAADiU/HYwHCybxGpo/s320/Woodland+Friend+by+Let's+be+Friends.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course, my family also surprised me with some amazing new plush for Christmas, and as soon as I get them photographed, I will share them with you all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope to get back to the sewing machine in a few days time, so stay tuned for new <a href="http://www.plushgoodness.etsy.com/">Plush Goodness</a> in the coming weeks!</div>

<br />
I have made a few new items for the holiday season, which are now available in my <a href="http://www.plushgoodness.etsy.com/">etsy shop</a>. They join a bunch of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/63328807/plush-stars-christmas-ornament?ref=v1_other_2">holiday</a> and wintery plush that are already there waiting for good homes.<br />
<br />
It wouldn't be winter without a snowman, and since I live in California, I have to make a snowman plush in lieu of making the real thing. ;D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fBufZcdO6D0/ULPuMoEU7bI/AAAAAAAADd0/XinjtpMM2QI/s1600/snowman+plush+2012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fBufZcdO6D0/ULPuMoEU7bI/AAAAAAAADd0/XinjtpMM2QI/s320/snowman+plush+2012.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This snowman is all dressed for the weather in his warm flannel sweater, flannel scarf, and felt top hat. His body is made from cuddly white minky.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
It wouldn't be Christmas without Santa and his loyal reindeer, Rudolph; Santa takes the form of a pillow for your home, and Rudolph is ready for the holidays in his festive saddle blanket and red jingle ball collar.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rUvIX4AQ4po/ULP4S6KlnpI/AAAAAAAADfE/2zXBSEEW1eo/s1600/Rudolph+plush-+blue.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rUvIX4AQ4po/ULP4S6KlnpI/AAAAAAAADfE/2zXBSEEW1eo/s320/Rudolph+plush-+blue.JPG" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x6QL-52km50/UL0mz40sX3I/AAAAAAAADgk/zZty0bQrBLM/s1600/Santa+Head+pillow.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x6QL-52km50/UL0mz40sX3I/AAAAAAAADgk/zZty0bQrBLM/s320/Santa+Head+pillow.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
and you can also find two of my Santa Head Ornaments in the <a href="http://www.plushteam.etsy.com/">Plush Team's etsy shop</a>.<br />
<br />

Miles was a commission from the lovely <a href="http://www.zfla.etsy.com/">zfla</a> as a wedding present for her niece; who had the real Miles participate in their wedding this Fall. How cute is that?! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Miles is made from super soft and cuddly "camel" colored minky, with chocolate brown minky muzzle, eye patches, and ears. He is wearing a bright fall orange cotton bow tie like the one that the real Miles wore on the wedding day. Making a pug plush turned out to be more challenging than I expected- it took many, many, sketches and about four tries during prototyping to get the body shape the way that I wanted.Leeanna Butcherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11801137553561452246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694405668165821995.post-29888427717368328962012-11-15T04:00:00.000-08:002012-11-15T04:00:10.957-08:00Long time no blog...Well, things have been pretty crazy around here for the last month, what with trying to get as many of my commissions done as possible, as well as get some Christmas themed plush made. I am currently on a bit of an enforced break as I recover from arthroscopic surgery, so I will hopefully post more photos of finished work after American Thanksgiving/ beginning of December.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned to the <a href="http://www.plushteam.com/">Plush Team's blog</a> starting Cyber Monday- the Team is doing a fun holiday themed promotion that you won't want to miss. :)<br />
<br />
Also- if you are interested in taking a look at or purchasing Hansel, Gretel, or Wilhelmina Witch; the plush that I made for this year's Plush You! art show, you can find them for sale <a href="http://schmancytoys.com/products">here</a> on the Schmancy Toys website, just scroll down until you see them.<br />
