I found my background fabrics, (I was lucky enough to find this great yellow and blue gradation at the Crate and Barrel outlet in Berkeley, and for some reason I already had the swamp water fabric in my stash- lucky!) trimmed them to size and length and then sewed them together. Then I cut out and sewed the islands together. (Another Crate and Barrel find.) This bottom picture is a rough idea of some of the colors and fabrics I'll be using for this piece.
